🛋 Upcycling projects

I used the sewing machine to make scrub caps and bags for NHS staff using fabric offcuts, a project by the Little Acts of Random Kindness charity.

I revamped a tub chair that I picked up from side of the road. I removed the old cover and used that as pattern to cut out new cover and sew it together. I also put some new legs on.

Our cat passed away recently and we were left with a lot of catty-based things, one of which was a scratching post. I didn't want to throw it away but couldn't give it away as it has seen a fair amount of scratching.

I ordered a new roll of rope and was about to order a staple gun (£30!) when I remembered my local Library of Things had one I could borrow instead.

We borrowed a staple gun to reupholster a footstool. We’d never reupholstered anything before, but it was easy and fun.

Now we have a great piece of furniture that we customised ourselves!

I needed the jigsaw to cut a desk. My handyman offered to do the job for £30 and I managed to do it for a third of that by renting the jigsaw from Library of Things.

Plus it was a lot more fun!

I borrowed the hand sander and sanded some mid-century furniture, cutting boards and an old medicine cabinet which all needed refreshing.

It's addictive! I’ll borrow it again for some doors.

I found a scandi stool at a thrift furniture resale shop and it had a lot of potential. It had a bad paint job and needed some upcycling love.

I rented the hand sander and now I have a new stool for my entrance way!

A second-hand patio set is well on its way to being restored to it's former glory.
