Borrowed the Thermal Imaging Camera and finally figured out where the cold spots in my home are, and thankfully it should be fairly easy to sort them out before the weather gets much colder.

I hired the drill and the reciprocating saw. I made built-in shelves for my cupboard, put up coat hooks and made an internal window frame with shutters.

To celebrate Buy Nothing September, I picked up a beautiful discarded wooden shelf that had been put out on the street for anyone to take, and I borrowed Doris the Drill to get her on the wall. Nothing purchased, and a beautiful new focal point on my bedroom wall.

🚪 Hang a door, or two

Using the planer, I fixed two non-fitting doors in my flat. I was quoted £245 for a handyman to come in and complete this job and told it would take them 3 hours- HA! This confirmed for me that girls don’t need men, they need access to power tools!

🧱 Drill into brick wall

I needed a hammer drill to attach a retractable washing line to a brick wall. I was apprehensive as I’d never drilled into brick or anything before. Hiring one for 24 hours made me just get on with it. The washing line is now up and I’m now looking forward to the next DIY challenge.

We had to dry out a wall in our bathroom following a leak...it made little noise and a noticeable difference!

Had shelves fall down in the night (disaster!) and was dreading the hours it would take to put them back up. Nipped to my local Library of Things, borrowed a professional masonry drill and got the job done in less than 2 hours! Absolute time and sanity saver and well worth the small borrowing fee.
