Last month’s Member of the Month winner 🏆

We’d like to thank Library of Things — a brilliant initiative based at Patch in Twickenham — for coming to the rescue when our sound system packed up at the start of our second Day Time Disco.

You voted for Age UK Richmond who hired the speaker from Twickenham Library of Things.

Last month's winner gave their community a good time using the speaker. This month it’s all about making yourself proud.

1. Giving DIY a go for the first time 💪

“I’ve never really done any DIY before but wanted to see if I could put up a set of shelves by myself rather than paying someone to do it for me. Using the Library of Things was such an easy way to try out DIY for the first time and I’m thrilled with my new shelves!” - Wandsworth member

2. Taking the waste out of your celebrations 💚

We love the Party kit! It’s great to not have to use / waste plates / cups only one time and throw them away!” - Hackney Wick member

3. Saying yes to new experiences 🏕️

“I was invited to an event that involved camping and I don’t own a tent! The Library of Things came to my rescue! It was really easy to put up the tent by myself. I was quite proud of myself for trying two new things… renting from the Library of Things and constructing a tent.” - Crystal Palace member

4. Making little changes that boost your mood☀️

“I'm working at home mostly and the flat I rent only has one window and can feel quite hemmed in. I used the heat gun to help me take the tint off the glass in the front door so I now have a second window so when I turn my head at my desk I can see the sky. I haven't used a heat gun or the Library of Things before but it all went so much more smoothly than I'd expected.” - Hammersmith member

5. Making your own clothes (and sticking to your New Year’s goals👏)

“One of my New Year's goals was to get back into sewing, something I haven't done for over 15 years.

Being able to borrow the sewing machine instead of committing to buying one was a great push to finally start again, and I’m so glad I did!

I’m super excited to have some cute new wardrobe items for summer. I loved being able to give it a whirl and I'm really grateful for this initiative.

It’s such a wonderful way to access items, and get started on things you may be procrastinating on. Thank you Library of Things.” - Kilburn member
